I’ve been there and done that. It is one of those proofs that exists only as a mathematical mumbo jumbo and lacks that tangible, visual understanding...
Anyway, it is never asked in the exams. They expect you to know only its application, yes- just the 2*highest frequency part. I know, it’s freakishly simple compared to the explanation behind it…

Like falling in love…. Immensely effortless! But to reason, analyze and understand the phenomenon? Anything but easy…

It seems one of the most complicated explanations yield one of the most powerful and yet absolutely simple truths. And more often than not, only these simple things matter…

                          
But the fact remains that behind every simple sampling theorem there is always a complex story… and this is my pursuit of making sense of them…
